Gluten free beer at Morrisons: what it stocks, and what it does not

Morrisons does sell gluten free beer. The range was thin in June and October’s check found it thinner: 5 confirmed lines, down from roughly 10, with Stella, San Miguel, Daura and BrewDog all missing from the listings. Two things stop this being a purely gloomy page. Peroni GF at £7.50 is now the cheapest of the big 4 supermarkets. And Jubel’s arrival gives Morrisons its first naturally gluten free beer, ending its status as the one big supermarket where a coeliac avoiding gluten removed beer had nothing at all.

The “gluten free” label on the rest of the shelf still gives no hint that the drink inside started life as ordinary barley beer. That distinction is the whole reason this page exists.

What Morrisons actually stocks

Updated October 2026: we re-checked the range online. The June range of roughly 10 lines has thinned badly: Stella GF, San Miguel GF, both Dauras, BrewDog Punk GF, Vocation and the Evan Evans CWRW were all missing from October’s listings. What remains is Peroni (now the cheapest of the big 4 supermarkets for it), Kirkstall Virtuous and Skinny Brands. The one genuinely good change: Jubel’s naturally gluten free fruit lagers have arrived, which ends Morrisons’ run as the supermarket with nothing naturally gluten free at all.

Our verdict on the range

Thin, and thinner than it was.

The October listings leave Peroni as the one dependable mainstream lager, at the best big 4 price for it, with Stella, San Miguel and Daura Damm all absent. The Daura 0.0% that arrived in April has gone the same way, at least online. Jubel’s mango 4 pack and mixed 8 pack are the bright spot, naturally gluten free and sensibly priced per bottle.

Past that, the range falls away immediately. One craft option in Kirkstall. A low calorie lager in Skinny Brands. No stout. No porter. No pale ale. No gluten free craft beer of any real breadth.

Compared to Waitrose, Sainsbury’s or Tesco, Morrisons is at the thin end of supermarket gluten free beer coverage. It has the mainstream lagers that every supermarket carries, and little beyond them.

The thing the shelf will not tell you

Every beer in the confirmed Morrisons range except Jubel is gluten removed. Not naturally gluten free: gluten removed.

The process works like this. The beer is brewed from barley in the normal way. Before packaging, an enzyme (usually Brewer’s Clarex, or a similar proprietary treatment) is added to break down the gluten proteins until the beer tests below 20 parts per million, which is the legal threshold for a “gluten free” label in the UK. Peroni GF, Stella GF, San Miguel GF, Daura, BrewDog Punk GF, Kirkstall Virtuous, Vocation Heart and Soul: all barley beers, all enzyme treated.

For most people this is fine. For coeliacs it is more complicated. The standard ELISA test used to measure gluten in food and drink struggles to accurately read the broken peptide fragments left behind after the enzyme process. The test says the beer is below 20ppm. A meaningful number of coeliacs still react to it. The science here is not settled, and the risk varies person to person.

The alternative is naturally gluten free beer: brewed from grains that never contained gluten in the first place. Those beers do not have the same residual peptide concern. At Morrisons, as of October 2026, that means Jubel and nothing else.

What we would actually buy, and where

From the Morrisons shelf as the October listings show it, the picks are simple. The Peroni GF 4 pack at £7.50 is the best big 4 price for the most dependable mainstream gluten free lager. Kirkstall Virtuous is a solid session IPA, though the same can is cheaper at Asda and Tesco if you are passing one. And the Jubel mixed 8 pack at £13.50 is the value route into naturally gluten free beer at £1.69 a bottle.

If gluten removed beer does not agree with you, Jubel is now the one thing here for you. Everything else on the shelf is off limits.

That is the broader problem with using a mainstream supermarket as your main source for gluten free beer. Morrisons carries what the major brand sales teams can push through a national buying process. The naturally gluten free pale ales, the gluten free IPAs, the independent breweries that have built their entire output around being safe for coeliacs: none of that makes it onto a Morrisons shelf.
